Exploring Standards-Based Lesson Plans

One of the subjects that I wish to teach in high school is 3D modeling. Through this I would be teaching grades 9-12 with each grade going more and more in depth. With this lesson plan it would be focused on the beginners that have never done 3D modeling before or are novices. The plan would go over the basic layout and design of the program as well as how to navigate the program and the function of the basic and most used tools. Through this lesson I would have the students make a simple scene to show that they have the concept down and understand the basics of this program.

This lesson is designed to teach the students to understand the basic knowledge of this program. With having this knowledge they will then be able to move forward and learn the more complex parts of this program and 3D modeling. After learning the fundamentals the student would then move on to more complex projects. First starting off with strict assignments and then as the progress they will have more and more freedom on what they design, and in doing so it allows them to use their imagination and think outside of the box.

This lesson plan is the same lesson plan that my teach used to teach me. We started off simple and steadily got more complex. As we got more complex things obviously started to get harder, but with learning the harder things such as, texture maps, different types of selection, and ways to manipulate the objects, it made our projects come together more easily and in better quality. I would imagine that most students would struggle at first, but after a few exercises they would then get the hang of the new tools and then implement them into their projects themselves quite easily.

What I like most about 3D modeling is that you're always learning and coming up with new ways to tackle a project. In return it helps you think in more way than one. In doing so you'll be able to achieve more than you would have originally thought possible.

Assistive Technology for students with Deaf-Blindness

The disability of deaf-blindness among students and even non-students of all ages has such a huge impact in their life and the life of those around them. To many people the term "deaf-blindness" they think that it means that the person is unable to both see and hear, when in fact that's not the case. The term "deaf-blindness" simply means that the person has some loss in both their vision and their ability to hear. The amount of their loss in those abilities differs from person to person and its very important to know. Knowing that information will allow better understanding on how to help the person to the utmost potential.

One major tool for not only students, but also people outside of school, with deaf-blindness is the braille keyboard. Over the years the braille keyboard has become more and more advanced. It is able to be hooked up into just about any computer and it allows those who have a hard time seeing to be able to type. Typically those with seeing disabilities are unable to write so the braille keyboard allows them to take notes in class just as well as any other student.



Another tool that is making a massive impact voice recognition, and voice to text. These programs, once difficult to make easily usable and accessible to everyday people now is practically in every person's hand. With most phones, computers, and laptops, and even some TV's, these days they have built in talk to text and a talking AI. this is a major help to those suffering from deaf-blindness. It helps in so many ways, it allows the person to communicate a lot easier with their friends and family as well as everyday tasks such as taking notes, reading, even getting directions to a destination.

With the advances in technology everyday Assistive Technology today will soon be out dated and even seem archaic. I remember just maybe ten years ago the thought of functioning AI was merely science fiction and now its in everyone's hand. I'm hoping to see the same thing for braille keyboards, but that's a bit more difficult to put into a hand held device, but I'm sure with due time there will be a way. At this point in time the basic design in made, it's just fine tuning and making it more accessible to everyday people.

Connections Academy looks very professional. The website looks great, it has a FAQ page, contact numbers, everything you need to know in a neat professional manner. Just from looking at the home page alone I can tell that the online school takes itself very seriously.

Virtual School house, right off the start, does not look to be that promising. Their website is very bland, messy, and looks unprofessional. I can see someone getting confused easily on this website. It doesn't tell or show you much of what the school has to offer. I myself would not enroll my child in this school. There inst much I can go off of to determine that this is a good place to enroll my child. I mean if you can't have a decent looking website and keep it properly maintained, then how can I expect you to take good care of my child?

ECOT
ECOT at first looks to be a promising website and school, but as you take a closer look it doesn't tell you much, it is mainly just a few pictures and a video loop. For this website you have to dig around to figure out how this school is and what it stands for. It is definitely a step up from Virtual schools.

Ohio Virtual Academy
Ohio Virtual Academy is a definitely a great place to enroll your child. Right off the bat you can tell the website is really clean and professional looking. It tells you everything you need to know. It breaks everything down into a simple easy to understand format. You can also tell that the school really focuses itself on the students equally no matter the age. Which is the main reason I would enroll my child to this school.

Virtual Community School of Ohio
Virtual Community School of Ohio, there isn't really anything that makes this school stand out from the rest. It isn't a bad, but it's not great either. To me it's just another school, nothing that really makes me want to invest into this school, but at the same time I know they do work hard and care for their students, but there are better schools for my child to attend in my opinion.
